Lomprayah ferries sell out fast. Book online early. Lock in seats to Koh Phangan or Koh Tao. Sail on time.
Common Scams to Avoid
At Samui Airport's curb, some private-car and taxi drivers quote a flat "airport fee" on top of the meter, claiming it is mandatory for all pickups inside the terminal zone. Decline any fare that isn't by the official airport taxi queue with printed docket. If approached inside, walk the 50 m to the clearly marked public-taxi stand.
Motorbike-rental booths just outside the arrival hall advertise Budget rates but later insist you also buy their full-coverage insurance or leave a cash deposit far above the normal hold on a credit card. Compare the on-airport booths with the rental desks in nearby Chaweng or Lamai (5, 10 min ride) and book only after reading the contract in full.
Shared-minivan drivers sometimes collect passengers for a "cheap shuttle to the beaches" then stop en-route at a tour agency or gem shop where you're pressed to buy excursions before the van continues. If the driver deviates from the direct route, politely insist on being dropped at the nearest public road and switch to a metered taxi or ride-hail app.
